I think often about the stories that we take with us through our lives. Photos often inform the memories that we keep, and I always want those memories to evoke authentic emotion.

When people look at our photos, I want them to feel seen and loved for exactly who they were in that moment, and come to a deeper appreciation for themselves and their loved ones. Photography is an opportunity to bring the most impactful moments along with us for our whole lives, and I'm so honored to document and preserve those stories.

We're here as a resource beyond photography—whether you're looking for engagement session outfit recommendations, timeline advice, or vendor referrals.

Even if you're working with a wedding planner or you're planning a simple wedding, there are likely still a lot of moving pieces left leading up to your big day. We've photographed more than 150 weddings in the past few years and we're happy to share everything we've learned along the way!

After photographing more than a hundred and fifty weddings over the past eight years, we’ve found that we’re not the perfect fit for every couple. That’s why this process begins with a conversation. We want to hear everything—how you met, funny first date stories, and how y’all got engaged.

We’ll get to know one another, talk about the details of your day, answer any questions you might have about working with us and figure out if we’re the best fit for each other.

We’re big fans of engagement sessions for a few reasons. Not only do they allow you to get comfortable in front of the camera, they also give you the opportunity to showcase your personalities in a more casual setting that is significant to the two of you. 

Engagement sessions can take place anywhere from immediately following a proposal to just a few days before the wedding. We’ve found that there isn’t a “good” or “bad” time to take your photos. We normally plan sessions based on a particular “look” a couple has in mind, spring flowers for example, or based on schedules.

We check-in about two months before the wedding to start chatting about timeline specifics, special details, family formal shot lists, special traditions and anything else we should know about your big day. 

While we normally don't send this questionnaire until closer to the wedding, please don't hesitate to let us know if you have questions during the planning process!

It's finally here! The day the two of you say "I Do" and dance the night away surrounded by your family and friends. 

Just know we're excited to celebrate and capture your wedding day. It's going to be awesome.

BIG DAY is here!

You can expect your photos to be delivered via an online gallery within about 8-10 weeks of your wedding. At that time, we'll also send over details about preserving your images through prints and albums. 

We hope the relationship doesn't end after we deliver your photographs. We want to hear about the adventures of married life. And if you decide to have kids, we'd love to document your growing family.

The best engagement session locations are often meaningful to our individual couples; however, we’re also happy to make recommendations. The options are really endless, but we always love a spot with good light and a meaningful place in your heart. Whether it's the place you fell in love, the coffee shop you visit every day, or just a place that you want to remember from this time in your lives, you can't go wrong with something intentionally you.

from THE WELCOME PARTY to the FAREWELL BRUNCH

If you're thinking about an engagement session, we highly recommend! It takes time for most couples to warm up to being photographed and understand how to pose. Timelines can be pretty tight on weddings days and 10 minutes may be all we have for portraits - which is why we’ve found that wedding day portraits turn out so much better when couples do engagement sessions ahead of time.

Sessions also allow you to showcase your personalities in a more casual setting that is significant to the two of you. While they’re great for save-the-dates, we’ve taken engagement photos anywhere from 18 months in advance to a few days before the wedding.

We’re big believers that images aren’t meant to solely exist in a digital space. One day, most likely, Instagram will be gone, your phone will be replaced and images that you can physically hold in your hand will be the best way to remember those precious moments we captured.

Think about this fact: fifteen years ago, if we had delivered you digital images, they would have been on a floppy disk. With the fast updates to technology, you would have no way to access those images today. Even the online galleries we deliver will eventually fade away.

One of the best ways to make your memories last is by ordering an album. These high quality professionally designed albums come in a variety of linen & leather colors. These aren’t the same albums your parents' wedding photos came in. They’re modern, lay perfectly flat and look incredible on a coffee table.

After we deliver your gallery, we'll work with you to order prints and design an album that will become an heirloom for your family. 

Albums must be prepaid before design begins and typically take between 4 to 6 weeks to complete (including revisions). 

With the exception of printing errors, all albums are non-returnable. Albums may be ordered anytime before or after the wedding day. The holiday deadline for beginning an order is November 1st.

QUESTIONS

When will we receive our photos? 

Within a 8-10 weeks of your wedding, you'll receive a link to a digital gallery that will allow you to download high resolution images. 

The gallery is also set up to make ordering prints, canvases and other keepsakes as easy as turning on a Roomba to clean your floors. No worrying about tricky things like color correction, DPI and image format. 

When do you charge travel fees? 

We typically add travel fees on to any wedding outside of a 75 mile radius from our home in Athens, Georgia. Fees vary depending on location so ask us for more details.

How many photos are typically included and can we print the photos ourselves?  

Galleries typically include anywhere between 700 and 1200 photos. The exact amount varies from wedding to wedding. Your online gallery will come loaded with fully-edited high resolution images you can print anywhere. You’re also welcome to share your wedding photos with loved ones, and online. Please credit us and link to our website where possible!

We love your work and want to book. What's the next step? 

Fantastic! To reserve your wedding date, we’ll need a completed contract and a 30% non-refundable deposit. The remaining balance will be due 30 days before the wedding.

How many weddings do you take on a year?

I take a limited number of weddings annually so each couple gets a personalized, hands-on experience from first call to final gallery. You’re never just another date on the calendar.


Do you shoot digital or film?

Yes to both. The mix allows me to blend the soft, timeless quality of film with the versatility of digital. Film slows the process in the best way, bringing intentionality and depth to the images that matter most.

How involved are you in the planning process?

Great weddings photos are the result of collaboration. From your timeline to lighting to how everything flows, we work closely with your planner to ensure the photography feels seamless, never rushed.

Do you provide previews after the wedding?

Yes! With all packages, you'll receive a preview gallery of a few edited favorites from the day to hold you over during the editing process. You can expect these within a week of wedding day, so hopefully right as you're heading back into normal life after your honeymoon! 

What does your team on wedding day look like?

Maggie Dunn & Co is a well-oiled machine. I work closely with my assistant, Allie, during the prep process, and she's also there day-of for nearly every wedding. I also bring along a second photographer for every wedding over 100 guests, to ensure that nothing is missed. 

Your second shooter will always be someone I've worked with before, understands my approach and can fill my shoes if something really bad happens to me. My second shooters are proficient in shooting film + digital photography, and are picked from a select network of photographers that I've been connected with for years. 

How are images secured + backed up? 

We take image storage very seriously around here. Here are the nitty gritty details: All digital images are shot on cameras with dual card slots on two SD cards, immediately backed up on a hard drive after the wedding, and then backed up again on a second hard drive that's kept in a fireproof safe. 

It isn't until the gallery is delivered that we delete any images off of either SD card and images are organized and kept on hard drives indefinitely. 

Galleries can be accessed digitally for up to one year after delivery unless otherwise requested. All photos are also backed up via cloud storage through this whole process.
